Game Night in Five Frames

Spokane Jr. Chiefs 12U Blue vs. Moses Lake | November 23, 2025

Five frames, one night on the ice: from pre-game calm to clutch saves, watch the Spokane Jr. Chiefs 12U Blue take on Moses Lake in action.

On November 23, 2025, I headed to EWU Ice Arena to catch the Spokane Jr. Chiefs 12U Blue take on Moses Lake. As someone who’s been snapping shots of youth hockey for a while, I was excited to capture the whole energy of the game—from the quiet before the puck dropped to the intensity on the ice.

The first frame sets the stage: a wide shot of the rink with arena signs glowing and the Zamboni rolling across fresh ice. There’s something about that smooth ice and empty boards that makes the anticipation almost tangible.

Next up, a quieter moment with Titus Collier (#34) taking a breath between plays. Even in these early minutes, you can see the focus—it’s the small pauses that make the game feel human and real.

Then the action hits. Xander Smith (#82), Bennett D’Agostino (#58), and Ruby Mayberry (#13) swarm the puck in the offensive zone. The energy, the determination, the teamwork—it’s electric when these kids are in motion. The crowd feels it too. Fans are on their feet, reacting to every play, and that energy is contagious. You can’t help but get swept up in it, camera in hand.

Finally, August Baird (#83) makes a clutch save that stops everything for a split second. That kind of focus and composure under pressure—it’s what makes youth hockey so thrilling to watch.

From the pre-game calm to full-on action, these five frames capture the highs, the quiet moments, and the sheer energy of a night on the ice.
